The Uhuru Highway Viaduct Mega Project!

The Overall objective of the project is to relieve the traffic congestion currently prevalent along road A104 and raise the running speed at which traffic passes through Nairobi. A uniform running speed of 80km/h is anticipated for through traffic using the Uhuru Viaduct.

To achieve this objective, all major side road intersections will be replaced by grade separated interchages and all medium U-turnd will be removed.
As noted in DP9 (Road Network and Property Access) service roads are viewed as being contrary to the project objectives because they detract from the capacity and safety of operation of any such facility. However, where service roads exist they will be retained. Similarly, no direct access to the road from individual properties should be allowed, for the same reasons.

We are currently working on the detailed designs of the interchanges, elevated highway and bridges along the viaduct..
